Hello everyone, my name is Jane Catten and I’m the CEO of Age Well. I’m delighted to welcome you to our agency. As one of our many volunteers supporting our mission on behalf of our clients you’re joining a team of volunteers over 1300 strong and I’m proud to say the largest volunteer group in the entire state of Vermont. As you spend time today in your orientation, you’ll meet many people who are leading our various departments and you’ll learn more about the supports and services we offer to over ten thousand clients each year. I can’t tell you how proud I am of the work our entire team does each day as we serve in our four counties, Franklin, Grand Isle, Chittenden and Addison. We are making a difference in the lives of those who need us most. I’d like to start with a little bit of background about myself. I have over 30 years of experience in healthcare as a registered nurse and healthcare executive. My main focus has been on the hospital side of healthcare operations in community-based and academic medical centers. Throughout this experience caring for vulnerable older populations has been front and center and as I assumed the role of CEO at Age Well, my passion for this work shifted from hospitals to the community-based service arena. Our mission at Age Well is simple: to provide the support and guidance that inspires our community to embrace aging with confidence, and our vision Age Well aspires to use our Vermont experience to be nationally recognized and collaborative leader in the aging network promoting healthy aging independence dignity and personalized choice for older adults. Today you’re starting your volunteer journey at Age Well and I can guarantee you that the work you’ll do with the clients you’ll meet will be some of the most gratifying you’ve ever experienced. I know getting out into the field and seeing first hand the important work that happens every day is so inspiring for me I’m certain you’ll feel the same way. Let me take this time to welcome you all on board and wish you the very best as you join an amazing team of volunteers at Age Well. You are truly at the center of all we do and we could not serve our clients as we do without you. Congratulations and welcome to our team!

“My work makes me feel proud because I get the opportunity to help older adults in the community and I love getting the opportunity to help older Vermonters from our New American Community.”

– Lakpa Lama, Community Health Worker
