Please join the Vermont Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) on Wednesday, June 28th at 11:30 am at Arrowhead Senior Citizens Center located at 46 Middle Road in Milton for Prevent, Detect, Report, a free and fun introduction to basic steps you can take to stop Medicare scams before they happen. Fraud, errors, and abuse cost the Medicare program an estimated $65 billion annually. It’s a problem that affects us all. Staff from Vermont Senior Medicare Patrol will teach you to recognize the signs of phone and internet phishing scams and protect your personal medical information.
Prevent, Detect, Report is a short introduction to the basics of protecting your Medicare information, presented by the staff of Community of Vermont Elders, which administers the state’s chapter of Senior Medicare Patrol. It’s everyone’s duty to protect this critical benefit by learning to recognize the signs of Medicare crime and stop the scams before they happen.
Learn to protect yourself from scammers who want to steal your Medicare information by learning to read your monthly statement, to the importance of never giving out your Medicare number unsolicited.
