A Matter of Balance Training Workshop
Help Older Adults Build Confidence and Prevent Falls with Age Well
Falls are a common concern among older adults, and many people either fear falling or have experienced a fall themselves. Age Well is proud to offer A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls, a nationally recognized program designed to empower older adults to reduce their risk of falls and increase their confidence and physical activity.
Age Well serves communities across Chittenden, Franklin, Grand Isle, and Addison counties, and we’re currently looking for passionate volunteers to become Matter of Balance Coaches to deliver this valuable program in our region.
A Matter of Balance is an 8-session program (each session lasting two hours) that combines group discussion, problem-solving techniques, videos, and gentle physical exercises. The goal is to help participants overcome their fear of falling, improve balance and strength, and maintain their independence.
As a coach, you will guide small groups of older adults through exercises and activities that build confidence and teach practical strategies to prevent falls. Participants often share that they not only feel safer but also increase their regular physical activity thanks to your support.
Our volunteers report that they have just as much fun as the participants—making this a rewarding and enjoyable experience for everyone involved!
We’re seeking volunteers who are enthusiastic, dependable, good communicators, and comfortable leading gentle to moderate physical activity.
Ready to make a difference? Join us for a two-day training workshop on June 26 & 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Age Well’s Main Office in Colchester.
For more information or to sign up, please contact Elizabeth Arms, our Matter of Balance Coordinator, at 802-771-4560.
