Vermont seniors got top billing at the Champlain Valley Fair in Essex Junction on Tuesday. Senior Day means discounted tickets for people 55 and older. And it was all smiles as they shared stories of their fond fair memories from over the decades.

“Enjoy the good crowd and the people and the food,” said Ron Bissonnette of Milton.

“People watching. I like to walk around the fair, see all the rides. I don’t go on them anymore. Play a couple of games, see all the animals and the exhibits,” said Shirley Sweet of South Burlington.

Senior Day at the Champlain Valley Fair is the perfect time for older community members to get the most out of the “10 Best Days of Summer.”

Age Well hosted a celebration for more than 350 seniors on Tuesday to honor our elders.

“Chance to get together with other people my age and meal and good music,” said Alice Daley of Essex.

“This gets them out connected. They sit at new tables, meet new people and they’re able to connect in a different way, in a different environment, that just stimulates so many different things. So we are thrilled,” said Kerry Batres of Age Well Chittenden County.

Seniors from around the region walked up and down the fair’s winding paths, checking out vendors, fried fair foods and enjoying the event many have attended since childhood.
