BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Age Well Vermont is celebrating 50 years of serving older Vermonters and advocating for healthy lifestyles and happiness among the aging population.

It’s the largest agency on aging in the state and serves Addison, Chittenden, Franklin and Grand Isle counties. It provides support to thousands of older Vermonters with services like Meals on Wheels, case management, care coordination and Medicare counseling.

Communications Director Tracey Shamberger says while the mission hasn’t changed over the years, the volume of people Age Well serves has.

“Vermont has one of the largest populations of older adults in the country, second or third, next to Maine and New Hampshire. So while our population continues to increase. Really, what’s changed is the volume and probably really more expansion of the variety of services that we offer,” Shamberger said.
