BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The nonprofit organization Age Well put on a fashion show on Sunday as a fundraiser to help feed aging Vermonters.
Age Well and Black Martini Promotions hosted the fashion show at the Burlington Country Club to raise money for Meals on Wheels. Last year, more than 300,000 meals were given to older Vermonters who use the service.
About 175 people showed up at the runway to show their support. Community members like 100-year-old Carolyn Bessette say aging Vermonters need assistance with rising food prices.
“Absolutely, that is my thing. That’s what I want to do, and make sure everyone has a meal. Because the price of food going up, people having a very difficult time. I am a supporter,” said Carolyn Bessette of Colchester.
Officials with Age Well say this is the first time they have done a fashion show to raise some money.
